Setup Instructions

The VPN Machine works with all major operating systems and mobile devices including Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X, Apple iOS devices (including the iPhone, the iPod Touch and the iPad) and Android devices.

Windows 7

  1. Click the Start button, click Control Panels. This opens up the Control Panel Home.
  2. Click on the Network and Sharing Center control panel.
  3. Click on Set up new connection or network.
  4. Click on Connect to a workplace.
  5. Click on Use my internet connection (VPN).
  6. Enter the VPN Machine server IP address in the “Internet address” field. Set the destination name to: VPN Machine. Click “Next.”
  7. Enter your username and password.
  8. Click “Connect.” Click “Connect Now.”

Windows XP

  1. Click Start button and go to Control Panel.
  2. In the control panel click on Network Connections.
  3. Click Create a new connection on the top left.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Choose Connect to the network at my workplace. Click Next.
  6. Select Virtual Private Network connection. Click Next.
  7. Enter “VPN Machine” the in Company Name field. Click Next.
  8. Select Do not dial the initial connection. Click Next.
  9. Enter the VPN Machine server IP address in the “Host name or IP address” field. Click Next.
  10. Tick Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop. Click Next.
  11. Enter User name and Password of your VPN Machine account. Select Save this user name and password for the following users to simplify connection.

Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger

  1. Open Internet Connect (in the application folder).
  2. Click VPN.
  3. From the Configuration pop-up menu, choose PPTP.
  4. Type our the server IP in the field Server Adress.
  5. Type your Account Name in the field Account Name.
  6. Type your Password in the field Password.
  7. Click Configuration -> Edit Configurations
  8. Save your configuration in the pop up as VPNMachine.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Choose Show VPN status in the menu bar to monitor that your VPN is active.
  11. Click Connect to activate the VPNMachine Service.
  12. End Internet Connect. Save your configuration in the pop up as VPNMachine.

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard

  1. Go to System Preferences, then Network.
  2. Click on the plus symbol in the lower left corner to add a new connection. (Note: you may need to click the lock icon in the lower left to unlock the preference pane and make changes.)
  3. Under Interface select VPN.
  4. Set the VPN Type to PPTP.
  5. The Service Name should be VPNMachine.
  6. Click Create.
  7. The window will now show a place for the server address, and account name.
  8. Type our VPN Machine server IP in the field Server Adress.
  9. Type your Account Name in the field Account Name.
  10. Click on Authentication Settings and select Password
  11. Enter your password and click OK
  12. Click the checkbox for Show VPN status in menu bar
  13. Click the Advanced button and make sure, that the Send all traffic over VPN checkbox is enabled.
  14. Leave Advanced setting by clicking OK
  15. Click Apply in the lower right corner.
  16. Click Connect

iOS Devices

  1. Tap the Settings icon.
  2. Tap “General.”
  3. Tap “Network.”
  4. Tap “VPN.”
  5. Tap “Add VPN Configuration”
  6. Tap PPTP. Enter your VPN Machine username and password. Enter the VPN Machine IP server address.
  7. Tap “Save.”
  8. Slide VPN from “OFF” to “ON” to connect.

Android Devices

  1. Tap “Settings.”
  2. Tap “Wireless & Network.”
  3. Tap “VPN settings.”
  4. Tap “Add VPN.”
  5. Tap “Add PPTP VPN.”
  6. Tap “VPN Name” and enter “VPN Machine.”
  7. Tap “Set VPN Server.”
  8. Enter the VPN Machine IP server address.
  9. Tap the back button.
  10. Tap “VPN Machine.”
  11. Enter your VPN Machine username and password.
  12. Tap “Remember username.”
  13. Tap “Connect.”
